Monday thoughts 2

Things are hard and heavy right now and it can feel overwhelming. And sometimes people want to just offer the ‘it will be ok’ or ‘just keep praying’ and ‘God will save us’ and ‘love is all we need.’ Those things are good, but, sometimes you just need to take a breathe. Work through the hard and heavy things right now. Do the next right thing you can wherever you are in your day. Connect with others who are helping in some way, or feeling the same as you. Keep hoping for a good future. Keep working towards it.

Do what you can to help and support others, here, there, and far away in Ukraine. There’s all kinds of great organizations out there with feet on the ground in Ukraine – UNICEF, Amnesty International, World Jewish Relief, and Direct Relief. Those are the ones I’ve seen posts about this weekend.

I, personally, don’t know anyone from Ukraine, but I don’t really need to. They are human, like me. Some are runners, like me. Moms, like me. Dads, children, artists, grocery clerks, housekeepers, musicians, CEOs, managers, analysts, sons, daughters, athletes, uncles, aunts, grandparents, teachers, coaches. And somehow we are all connected together. The sun shining here today is the same sun that will shine on Ukraine tomorrow.

Let there be more love and more light in this world today, no matter where you are in the world.

Darkness cannot drive out darkness, only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate, only love can do that.

Martin Luther King Jr.

If you can, be kind to someone today. Be kind to yourself. Start there. The ripple effect is amazing.
